Title: “Biomarkers integration in CLL patients’ management.“

This was a highly-educational scientific event, organised by the Institute of Applied Biosciences/The Centre for Research and Technology, Hellas (INAB/CERTH) at Thessaloniki, Greece. The venue was INAB and the event took place on June 4, 2016.
The scientific program was built around the integration of biomarkers when managing patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). In particular the focus was on gene TP53. The coordination of the event was towards not solely the direction of presenting results, but sharing knowledge in an interactive fashion as well. More specifically, the event included two interactive sessions where the audience had the opportunity to actively participate in the discussion. Even more, interaction among the participants was successfully encouraged throughout the event leading to a fruitful, educational and training experience.

Subject of the visit: The WP1 of CLLassify – Refine classification for CLL early stage patients and develop risk profiles.

This Research visit in the Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology, Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden was mainly related with the work package 1 of CLLassify. In particular, it was related with the investigation of different methodologies regarding the classification of CLL early stage patients in risk groups, based on their characteristics. It was held during the last week of May, 2016 (May 23, 2016 – May 30, 2016). Most of the research work has been performed in collaboration with Dr. Panos Baliakas from the Uppsala University. However, I had an excellent opportunity to meet, interact and collaborate with many researchers from the Uppsala University.
Overall, this visit resulted in interesting research output and set the cornerstone for fruitful future collaborations. Thank you all for the warm hospitality. Hope to see you soon.
